This is a support service for women and children within the Gedling area of Nottingham who have experienced domestic abuse. The main aim is to enable women to maintain their tenancies. This may involve practical support regarding benefits, personal safety planning and debt advice or emotional support by weekly one-to-one work. There is also group work where women identify learning new skills which helps to empower women to live within their chosen community. Women who have exerienced domestic abuse and are living in the Gedling area. You may be living in any type of accommodation, for example a council or housing association tenant, owner occupier or living with family or friends. How can I access this service? You can telephone Women's Aid Advice Centre yourself or ask someone to call on your behalf including a worker from any agency on 0808 800 0340 Following referral you will be contacted by a support worker to talk about the service. As well as one-to-one support, there is a group for women to meet up, talk, get support from each other and take part in activities. There is a free creche facility available for children aged 2 - 5 at the Women's Centre for women accessing the service.
